#1 PHONE CALLS. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORANT STEP IN THIS ELECTION.
You may remember that in 2006, we lost HD37 state rep by only 800 votes - there were 900 UNRETURNED DEMOCRAT MAIL IN BALLOTS. That can't happen this year. We are making phone calls to those who have requested mail in ballots - making sure they receive them, vote DEMOCRAT and return them right away. There are a couple of ways to participate: Virtual Phone Bank or Live Phone Bank
Virtual Phone Banking (VPB): We are now set up for virtual phone banking (VPB) - if you have access to the internet and a separate phone, you can do this at home by accessing the VAN system. It's REALLY easy and can be done anytime from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. If you have VAN access (www.coloradovan.com) - take a look a the set up under Virtual Phone Bank on the home page. HD37 has TWO combinations for the VPB: SD26 Newell/HD37 Holland OR SD27 Wilkes/HD37 Holland. You'll see instructions and a script when you log on. These calls are all registered Dems who have requested mail-in ballots. You just make the phone calls that come up - check off the boxes on the page - and move on!
If you do not have a username and password, I can set that up for you - just email me - vineta@aol.com.
LIVE Phone Banking: We will be having an on-going HD37 Candidate Diana Holland Phone Bank at the office of attorney Bev Ballantine in the heart of HD37 at University and Arapahoe. Next week (10-13-08 to 10-16-08), we will meet MONDAY THRU THURSDAY from 6 to 8 p.m. for phone calling. We'll be calling ALL voters essential to Diana's victory - remember, a vote for Diana is a vote for the entire DEMOCRAT ballot.
Directions to Bev Ballantine's office:
6601 S. University Blvd #100
Centennial, CO 80121
Located just north of Arapahoe Road on the west side of University.
If you are able to help with these live calls, please contact Diana Holland's campaign manager Terry Scanlon at terscanlon@gmail.com or 303-957-8137 cell or 303-471-5348 home.
The Arapahoe County Dems will also be doing ROBO CALLS all registered Democrats regarding mail in ballots and early voting.

#2 Mail in Ballots Postage and Drop Off
OK, the information in the mail in ballots says $1.17 postage, however, the county clerk has arranged for a postage of $.76 (76 cents) on each ballot. The ballots are supposed to be delivered by the post office regardless of the postage. You can check the progress and status of your mail in ballot at http://www.arapahoevotes.com/voterlookup.aspx - There is a ton of voter information at www.arapahoevotes.com
TWO recommendations in my opinion - put on PLENTY of postage and mail early OR drop off your ballot at the approved locations: http://www.arapahoevotes.com/items.aspx?id=28
ALSO - for a handy link to EARLY VOTE (10-20-08 to 10-31-08) locations (with maps), ballot issue information, candidate information go to www.arapahoedems.org all links are right on the HOME PAGE. If you have NOT requested a mail in ballot, you may vote early at any early vote location at the times noted.

#4 Proper Attire at the Polls
REMEMBER, that you cannot wear ANY kind of political buttons, t-shirts, etc at a polling place. If you do, they may ask you to leave. Sometimes they may be hoping you don't come back. The reason for this is the LAW about "electioneering" within 100 yards of a polling place. I'm assuming this means EARLY VOTING locations, too. Just a reminder - tell you friends, family, and neighbors just to be sure, please.

#5 WALK Saturdays for Diana Holland CANDIDATE for State House District 37
MEET on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. (note later time) at the King Soopers parking lot on the SW corner of University and Dry Creek. Join your fellow Dems and Diana to canvass door-to-door about 2 hours - you'll be home in time for lunch! PLEASE rsvp to Terry Scanlon so Diana's campaign can plan for the walk - 303-471-5349 or 303-957-8137 cell or terscanlon@gmail.com. Diana walks each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. plus many other days as well.
