Calling All Democrats
Please forward these advisories to your blast lists, your democratic friends and your neighbors to get voters educated and pumped up to continue our progress. Invite your friends to join our e-mail list regardless of what district they live in. The subscription process is right on the front page of:
In any election year, especially this one, it is not good for our HD37 Dems to be "sitting this one out". Our subscribers list here is lower than it was in 2008 and this is the year when we have to get out the vote or we give up everything we have gained in the last two years.
We need you to come to the HD 37 Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 6:00 for dinner on your own and 7:00 PM MT for the meeting. This month we will be stuffing voter guides into plastic hangers in preparation for our lit drops throughout the district.
We need all HD 37 Dems to come out and get this campaign season rolling for our Democratic Candidates.

Where are Coffman's military performance records?JOHN FLERLAGE, Democratic Candidate for U. S. House of Representative, District 6, released his complete military record of performance with no gaps weeks ago. Mr. Coffman has released only reports from 2005-2006 during the years he performed nation building, the conduct of elections, in Iraq for the Marine Corps. He told the Statesman he would release all reports. Mike Coffman has never missed an opportunity to exploit his months spent in the Saudi desert almost twenty years ago. He stated, "What separates me from my opponent is my service in the Iraq War,"… (1). This is not the first time Mr. Coffman has implied that he alone in this race served in combat. John, as a reservist living in Littleton, volunteered for combat duty in 1996, when he flew missions in support of Operation Joint Endeavor, combat air patrol (CAP) and close air support (CAS) and forward air control, airborne (FAC-A) sorties over the former Yugoslavia as a member of two active duty squadrons. From John's performance record written March 24, 1996: "This is a combat report. Flew and led sorties over Bosnia in support of NATO IFOR and Operation Decisive Edge/Joint Endeavor. Outstanding representative of the reserve community and a text book example of the effectiveness of Total Force concept. Presented personality and professional traits required to easily meld into daily ops of regular squadron. Extremely flexible officer and pilot. Smoothly adapted in minimum time to two seat concept and new software of F/A-18D. Extensive flight leadership experience and deep tactical knowledge provided invaluable force multiplier of squadron's tactical ops. Will return to reserve community with wealth of knowledge regarding current employment of joint/combined tacair and real-world contingency ops. A truly outstanding addition to this squadron and a pleasure to have on board. Height 70", 170 lbs." John's combat experience is also noted in the performance report dated Feb 28, 1997: "Organizational skills and attention to getting the job done that is second to none. Keen mind and forward thinker; would be an outstanding commander in the field. Volunteered for and flew combat missions in Bosnia as reserve augment to active duty squadrons. Clearly rises to the top of any group." John Flerlage is truly a remarkable leader, as evidenced by the foregoing reports. He has taken the same approach in running for Congress, and the intelligence, skills and demeanor reported by his superiors throughout his long career in the Marine Corps will serve our nation well. John knows how to get things done. He will take on the problems facing our country and communities, and he will develop solutions and work hard to implement them. Please give Lt Colonel John Flerlage your support with a donation to his campaign now and with your vote in the upcoming November election. For excerpts from other performance reports, read the next section.Download a copy of John's complete record of performance with no gaps (2 mb PDF). (1) "Incumbent GOP Coffman challenged from two fronts" The Colorado Statesman, Sept. 10, 2010, Vol. 111, No. 37. Excerpts From Other Performance ReportsJohn's April 30, 1998, performance report states: "LtCol John Flerlage has performed the duties of Squadron Executive Officer in superb fashion. Loyalty and dedication are atop the list of his most distinct qualities. His own personal priority has always been to take care of the troops. His value as a true leader is most evident in his ability to provide sound career advice to both officers and enlisted personnel. LtCol Flerlage is a well-rounded Marine capable of understanding all aspects of the military. Command should most definitely be in his future." John's November 30, 1997, performance reports states: "DILIGENT, DETERMINED AND DEDICATED MARINE CORPS WARRIER. Unquestionable loyalty augments the highest level of integrity for this extremely proficient leader of Marines… unique ability to grasp the smallest of details and project/plan for their impact on the big picture… Sage and well-defined leadership skills; demanding, forceful demeanor effectively and tactfully delivered through gentlemanly compassionate posture…Rapidly completing PME w/ Air War College…Conscientiously and zealously guards the interests and welfare of fellow Marines; quick to praise…READY NOW FOR COMMAND ASSIGNMENT!" [author's emphasis] From performance report dated June 30, 1997: "A most remarkable Marine Officer with tremendous foresight. He demonstrates this talent routinely when confronting each new challenge. From inception to conclusion an entire course of action is carefully and thoroughly planned and executed. During this reporting period Major Flerlage confronted some very significant personnel challenges…As Executive Officer, Major Flerlage assumed responsibility for oversight of all squadron administrative functions and has seen to it that each Marine, officer and enlisted, is taking the steps necessary to be competitive in the achievement of their individual career aspirations. His appearance is perfect, he consistently scores 300 on the PFT and he has completed all required PME. This Marine Officer is qualified and highly recommended for command." Going back further in John's performance reportsFrom June 12, 1989 report: "Displays unsurpassed leadership and professional qualities. HIGHLY INFORMED, INTELLECTUAL; commanding knowledge of Marine Corps doctrine and its application to modern warfare. A widely read individual who constantly strives to enlighten himself and those around him …developed a forty part academic lecture series for training fleet aviators. A distinguished aviator; brilliant tactician; held in great esteem by peers and superiors. A POISED, POLISHED speaker; can communicate on any level…leads by example." [author's emphasis]. From October 31, 1987 report: "Captain Flerlage arrived at MAWTS-1 on 3 July, two months prior to WTI 1-88. In the short time available he has established himself as one of the finest instructors I have ever worked with. Immediately arriving at MAWTS-1 he began work on a SEAD package that is incredibly innovative and that should revolutionize the philosophy of Marine Corps aviation in this field. He took over and presented five different lectures …An aviator without peer in the specific understanding and capabilities of the A-4 weapons system. Incomparable in his skill as an aviator and instructor. "Requested by name" for fleet support by A-4 commanders …One of the most impressive Marine officers I have ever served with in my career …An officer who is ready to accept positions of ever increasing responsibility. I would actively seek out Captain Flerlage to serve with me in any conflict of arms." [author's emphasis]. From May 31, 1985, report: "Captain Flerlage has continued to perform in an exemplary manner. He establishes a training plan and then executes the training which is comprehensive and diverse. He is a team leader in the Nuclear Safety Program. His superior performance carries over to his flying skills and make him one of the strongest pilots in the squadron. Not only does he know the A-4 tactics well, he has submitted some innovative concepts for consideration as new tactics. He is a strong aviator both in the mechanical skills and sound judgement [sic]." From December 7, 1983: "1stLt Flerlage is a quiet unassuming officer dedicated in the performance of his duties. Although new to the squadron, his performance on the job has been impressive. Quick to learn and quick to take the initiative, he was instrumental in the recent successful embarkation of the squadron for a deployment to Cecil Field in Florida …An extremely capable officer with demonstrated potential to excel in the Marine Corps." |
