I have been in communication with many of you about reading letters from
candidates.
Obviously, you are free to read letters from candidates as long as you read
them for all candidates in a contested race.
Many county chairs gave candidates a deadline for including materials in the
caucus packets. There is no rule that
prohibits anyone from submitting materials late. But we cannot guarantee
they got in. You may have caucus attendees who
come in and want to distribute information or read material. It is up to
your precinct committee person to decide if this
is appropriate and again it should be for all candidates.
A question was raised about the letter from President Obama. Despite how you
feel about endorsements, and both Senate
candidates have many, I have confirmation from the White House that the
letter comes from the President.
Finally, both Senator Bennet and former Speaker Romanoff are honorable men
who have dedicated their lives to public
service. They both deserve respect from us. Whoever does well in the caucus
will be energizing the delegates elected
to participate in the county assemblies and the state assembly.
Our ultimate goal is to hold this seat with a Democrat. The alternative is
unacceptable. I am confident that you all
will work hard to make that happen.
