To HD37,

This is a reminder that our monthly meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY, August 26, 2009 (Tuesday conflicted with a concert at Fiddler's Green).  We will still meet at CB&Potts 96575 S. Greenwood Blvd., Greenwood Village, CO 80111) at 6:00 PM for dinner on your own and HD37 meeting at 7:00 PM MT.

I have invited all City of Centennial and state candidates to attend and spend five minutes introducing themselves to us.  Please be present and pass the word to other HD37's about the change.

As you can see from the message below, there will be a special election for District 1 along with the normal election.  Both on Nov. 3.  The deadline for candidate filing is 5:00 PM MT, Monday August 24, 2009.

I have decided to run in the special election and I'm forming a campaign team now.

Hope to see you there.

V

Centennial Council Member Hamilton Resigns

Vacancy will be filled by Special Election November 3, 2009

Centennial, CO – The Centennial City Council on Monday accepted the resignation of District 1 City Council Member Betty Ann Hamilton and set a special election on November 3, 2009 to fill the vacancy.  Hamilton e-mailed her resignation to City Council on Saturday saying she had moved out of District 1 and could no longer serve.   Her term on Council has more than two years remaining.

After considering several options, the City Council agreed to send the election to voters using the same mail ballot as the regular City election on November 3.  The winning candidate will serve out the remainder of Hamilton's term.

City Council Candidates seeking office in the November 3 election have until August 24 (next Monday) to submit petitions of at least 25 signatures of eligible voters from their respective districts.   The same deadline is in effect for this new vacancy.

Centennial's Council has two representatives from each of four districts.  Normally, one seat in each district is subject to election this year.  In District 1, Council Member Rick Dindinger is running for a second term.  The new vacancy will mean that both District 1 seats will be on the November ballot.

Election packets, including special petitions for the District 1 vacancy, are available from the Deputy City Clerk Brenda Madison at the Civic Center, 13133 East Arapahoe Road.  For more information, call the Clerk's Office at 303-754-3302.
