Greetings everyone! I hope you all are having a fantastic summer. I know I have been enjoying the weather and all of the summer activities. With that in mind, this update contains info on the final events of the summer for the city as well as info on some other important items you may want to know about. Centennial Under the Stars The 4th Annual Celebrate Centennial Under the Stars event is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at the Centennial Medical Plaza. This FREE, family event includes interactive fitness demonstrations, vendors from throughout the City, family activities, health screenings, entertainment, food and a twilight movie (Kung Fu Panda) ending with a spectacular fireworks show. A variety of food will be for sale at the event. More info: http://co-centennial.civicplus.com/archive.aspx?AMID=&Type=&ADID=1525 Code Enforcement Survey The city is considering several additions to our code that pertain to property management. The city's Code Enforcement office has developed a survey to gauge support for each change. Please take a moment to complete the survey. Each issue can be rather complex. Some are safety issue and some come down to a decision between property rights and property values. To ensure any redevelopment in the area is in alignment with the city's vision, the city has created a Southglenn Area Plan. There has already been a lot of outreach to the public, but we are getting close to formally adopting the plan and I want to make sure everyone has a chance to weigh in. Please review the plan listed below and send me your feedback or attend the public hearing on the plan at our September 14th City Council Meeting. Southglenn Area Plan: http://www.centennialcolorado.com/index.aspx?NID=451 Upcoming Agenda Items In the next month or two, the city council will be addressing several issues that you may want to hear about and comment on: - Temporary signs in the right of way of streets (political signs, yard sale signs, real estate signs, etc.
- Arapahoe and I-25 interchange rebuild (including a potential underpass just south of Arapahoe Road that would connect from Yosemite on the west to Costilla on the east)
- Speed limit standards on arterial and collector streets
If any of these topics are of interest to you, I would recommend signing up to receive City Council agendas as they are released. In general, on the Thursday preceding a meeting the agenda will be released. That will give you a chance to review items of interest and either show up for public comment or contact me with any input you may have.
