Our next HD37 Meeting will be Tuesday, 9-23-08.
This year, voters will be faced with 17 issues on the ballot. Find out what each one means to YOU with Arapahoe County Chair Mike Hamrick. PLUS, Mike will discuss get out the vote efforts for Arapahoe County Democrats. ALSO, elected officials and candidates are invited to speak AND bring yard signs and literature.

#2 Get Out The VOTE in HD37
a. County-wide Literature drop - b. Mail Ballots Calls - c. Poll watchers
a. Every election year the Arapahoe County Democratic Party prints a Voter Guide with ALL Democratic candidates running in the county. It's time for the bi-annual LIT DROP! This year, the guide will be ready the end of next week or near 9-26-08. We need to have this project completed by 10-11-08. We will be dropping the guide and other candidate literature to ALL REGISTERED DEMOCRAT doors in HD37. That's about 8,100 doors - each of our 53 precincts has from about 100-200 doors - it can be done by one person in around 5 hours. Group Captains and PCPs will be the point people in this effort. Lit Drop Central is AGAIN in my garage at 5227 E. Davies Drive, Centennial, 80122. (SW corner of Holly & Arapahoe - south of King Soopers). The garage door will be unlocked - all information including lit drop precinct lists, maps, literature, bags, pens, boxes will be available (also YARD SIGNS are available). If you can take the literature you need - collate it - and place it in the bags, that will help. We will try to get some collating completed for you. b. Mail ballots are expected to begin to mail out on 10-6-08, meaning voters will receive them starting 10-7-08. So far, HD37 has over 5,900 Democrats using the PERMANENT mail ballot - that's not counting absentee ballots. We want to make sure that people receive their ballots, VOTE DEMOCRAT, and return them. The county will do a robo call to Dems receiving a mail ballot that they are on their way. THEN, we will be doing Virtual Phone Banking (on-line lists with your phone) to advise Dems to VOTE the entire ballot and get it in prior to election day. MORE ON THIS later - I think you'll like it and you can do it from home with an internet connection and a phone!
c. Poll Watchers on election day will be assigned to a polling place - go to the polling place a few times a day on election day and then call voters to remind them to vote. You must be certified by the Arapahoe County Clerk to perform this important election day function - we're shooting for at least 2 weeks prior to election day - so let me know by 10-18-08 or so to get you on the list. PLEASE let me know if you're interested. Once again, HD37 HQ and Diana Holland's election day HQ will be at Attorney Bev Ballentine's office at University and Arapahoe. We've got about 36 polling places for 53 precincts - so we need at least 36 poll watchers.

MEET on Saturday, September 20 at 9:30 a.m. (note later time) at the King Soopers parking lot on the SW corner of University and Dry Creek. Join educators and Diana to canvass door-to-door about 2 hours - you'll be home in time for lunch! Diana walks each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. plus many other days as well.
