LEARN MORE ABOUT THE STATE BUDGET CUTS TO EDUCATION FUNDING:
As a parent (or other interested party) in the Cherry Creek School District, here are some opportunities to learn more about the proposed state budget cuts as they affect CCSD. As you are likely aware, the governor has proposed over $375 million in budget cuts to public schools in Colorado. Cherry Creek School District alone is facing over $21 million in cuts if this goes through as proposed. This is a staggering sum in addition to the $33 million cuts that CCSD has made over the past 3 years. The public's understanding of the impact of these proposed cuts is critical!

Monday, March 7th – West Middle School Commons – 6:30pm – Jennifer Churchfield, CCSD Board member, Mary Chesley, Superintendent, Senator Nancy Spence and Representative Daniel Kagan
Thursday, March 10th – Cherry Creek High School – 6:00pm – Fine Arts Lobby – Presentation by Mary Chesley, Superintendent
Wednesday, March 16th - Cherry Creek School District Day at the Capitol. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the budgetary process, gain an appreciation for how our schools are funded, and meet legislators that represent our District. Even if you can only come for two hours, it is an insightful way to get a snapshot of what is happening at the Capitol, and for our elected officials to see and hear from us.Laurie Ritchie
