Dear State Parties,
Below is an article that appeared in the Washington Post this morning that
referenced the new ABC poll that was just released. The poll contained some
good news that you might want to share with your activists, as I have done
in New Hampshire.
With anti-incumbent sentiment at an all-time high, the poll has Democrats
leading Republicans in a generic House race, 47%-44%, although among likely
voters the number shift to 44% D to 48% R. This is why our base vote and
GOTV programs along with OFA's first time voter programs are so very
critical.
The poll also has President Obama's job approval at 52% and Americans
trusting Democrats over Republicans to handle the country's biggest
problems, 44-32%.
Furthermore, the poll finds growing disapproval of the "tea party" movement.
And six in ten poll respondents say they have a negative view of the
policies put forward by the Republican minority in Congress.
So while not everything in the poll is good news for Democrats, there is
clearly some encouraging data worth repeating. Our hard work is beginning
to pay off but there is much more to come.
I think it is helpful to share encouraging information and will continue to
do so in the coming months. Please feel free to send me positive articles,
emails; blog posts etc that you would like to share with your colleagues as
well.
