Hi,
Negligent (adj.), describes a condition in which you absentmindedly answer the door in your nightgown.
This is a neologism, a made-up alternative meaning for a common word.

- 2 April, Sterling Ranch Developers Have Withdrawn From Discussions Over Annexation With Littleton.
After a presentation to our Pub Forum on March 18th, and another presentation to the Littleton City Council on March 23rd, a letter was delivered to Jim Woods, Littleton City Manager, from Harold Smethills, Principal of Sterling Ranch LLC, stating "---Sterling Ranch will be ceasing its discussions with the Littleton City Council on any annexation potential------" They were scheduled to appear before Littleton City Council on April 6th. A vote probably would have occurred on whether to continue annexation would have occurred. (Source: Yours truly)

- Wage subsidies available for businesses hiring new employees
"Colorado businesses who are looking to grow their workforce can now receive a salary subsidy to help cover the costs of hiring and training a new employee.
Businesses who hire an Arapahoe or Douglas county resident into a full-time paid on-the-job training before June 30 may be eligible to receive a subsidy up to $6,000 to recover the costs of recruiting, training, and wages for each individual. To qualify, a business must have been in operation in Colorado for at least 120 days, pay into workers' compensation and unemployment insurance programs, and have not laid off employees within the past six months.
June 30 is the deadline to apply for wage subsidies. Arapahoe/Douglas Works! will administer more than $1.4 million in HIRE Colorado funds and anticipates it will provide approximately 219 subsidies to businesses.

- Now: Centennial Receives Ruling on Preliminary Injunction Hearing about Medical Marijuana Dispensary
Arapahoe County District Judge Christopher Cross ruled today [March 26th] on the second preliminary injunction hearing in favor of the City of Centennial in defending the City's zoning regulations and the temporary moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries.
The Plaintiffs in the case, titled Frascher v. Centennial, sought a preliminary injunction to allow and operate a medical marijuana dispensary at 8006 E. Arapahoe Rd. The injunction was denied because of the City's zoning regulations and the temporary moratorium currently in place lawfully prohibits medical marijuana dispensaries.

- 15th April, Thursday, 4:00 pm.-7:30 pm., Meeting On I-25/Arapahoe Road Interchange Environmental Assessment Project
" Members of the public will have an opportunity to voice opinions and share ideas about how to improve operations at the I-25/Arapahoe Road Interchange. The I-25/Arapahoe Road Interchange Environmental Assessment (EA) project will hold its first public meeting on April 15th at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (8545 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial). The meeting will be an open house format from 4:00-7:30 p.m. There will be no formal presentation.
The I-25/Arapahoe Road EA is a 12 - 18-month study to evaluate reasonable alternatives for the I-25/Arapahoe Road interchange. The goal of the study is to identify a preferred alternative, if appropriate, that would then be eligible for funding and future construction. The study process will include documentation and re-evaluation of the reasonable alternatives previously considered from the earlier Arapahoe Road Corridor Study, System Level Feasibility Study, and evaluation of newly suggested reasonable alternatives.
A project web site has been created to keep the community updated on the progress of the study. "As the study moves forward, we will be posting updated concepts and design alternatives for the interchange," said Joe Hart, project manager with David Evans and Associates, Inc. "We encourage those interested to visit the web site to learn about the project history, submit comments and sign up to receive project mailings." The web site can be found at: www.I25ArapahoeRoadEA.com.

- Sources Of Information:
A complaint I hear frequently is "how did you know about that." This is especially true relative to meetings having to do with developments and things that directly effect them. Frequently they don't know until it is too late.
Here are some starting points:
- The Littleton Independent newspaper does a great job of covering Littleton activity. www.littleton-independent.com
- Littleton Community Network (LCN) for non-government items; arts, clubs, calendar. website at: http://www.littleton.org/ - Downtown Littleton Merchants' website at www.downtownlittleton.com.
- Independent Citizens Action Network (ICAN) at www.ICAN4.info Information resource an in the education, government, etc.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Disclaimer:
This started several years ago with trying to keep "concerned citizens' up to date on meetings about the Marathon property. Later, it became obvious to me at the start of the Littleton Station project that many people didn't know about developments, etc, that were going to impact their lives, and were too busy to find out, and/or didn't know where to get the information. So we continued. This is simply a small attempt to help people keep posted on what is happening, and where to get information on their own.
