Public Hearing Scheduled about Centennial's proposed Land Development Code
The City of Centennial is currently re-writing the Land Development Code for the City. A public hearing is scheduled about the Land Development Code for the Planning and Zoning Commission on February 10th and 24th, 2010. The staff presentation will occur on February 10th, with public comments taken at both February 10th and the 24th meetings. A recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission will be made to City Council on February 24th. There have been public meetings giving the public opportunity to comment on the current and proposed new code.
The current code is a modified version of Arapahoe County's zoning regulations that do not adequately address development issues of an urban city. The new code is aimed at implementing goals of the City's Comprehensive Plan, various sub-area plans, and Our Voice, Our Vision, Centennial 2030. The new code seeks to provide additional protections to existing neighborhoods from adjacent commercial development, while allowing development and redevelopment of the City's aging commercial centers in a high-quality manner that citizens expect.
