South Suburban Seeks Candidates to Fill Board Position

South Suburban Park and Recreation District is seeking qualified candidates to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors.   The current board will review letters of interest, and appoint a new Director to fill a term that expires in May 2010. Candidates must be eligible electors of the District.

Persons interested in applying are asked to submit a letter of interest with the following information:  name, address of residence or property owned in District, background and qualifications, value you believe you would bring to the District Board and willingness to run for election in May 2010 to continue to serve on the Board of Directors.  Letters of interest should be sent by November 30, 2009 to the District's administrative office at 6631 S. University Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121 or emailed to Teresa Cope, Communications Director, at teresac@sspr.org.

The current vacancy on the Board is a result of Board member Phil Cernanec leaving his term early to serve on Littleton's City Council.  South Suburban's five Board members are elected at large to serve four-year terms.  Had Mr. Cernanec served his entire term with South Suburban his term would have ended in May 2010.

South Suburban Park and Recreation District's mission is to contribute to the full and meaningful lives of residents by providing a variety of leisure services as well as improving the quality of life through stewardship of the environment, parks, trails and open space.  The District serves nearly 140,000 residents in the cities of Littleton, Columbine, Bow Mar, Sheridan, Lone Tree, western Centennial and portions of unincorporated Arapahoe and Douglas counties.
