The Presentation:

House District 38 is sponsoring my education presentation this Thursday, April 9th.  The meeting will be held at the Buck Recreation Center: 2004 W Powers Avenue, Littleton. I will begin speaking at 7pm and the general meeting will follow at 8pm. All are invited.

The Bad:

HB1304 sponsored by Colorado's Education Champion, Representative Judy Solano was defeated in the House. Colorado currently exceeds the unfunded, non-renewed, piece of crap called No Child Left Behind. The bill would have saved the state, which happens to be in a budget crises, approximately $6 million dollars by returning writing assessments to licensed and trained educators. Currently writing CSAP tests are judged by the Kelly Temp Agency who evaluate hundreds of test responses with no teaching experience.

Read and weap, or better yet, read and ACT.

If you would like to read the obituary of HB 1304:

The Good:

After three years of writing and research and countless rejections, my book, Seeds of Tomorrow: Solutions for Educating America's Children, has found a publisher. The contracts have been signed and as of Thursday, I am 180 pages lighter. I am so thrilled to announce that Paradigm Press will be publishing the book this fall. In addition to a broad trade market, the book will be marketed to colleges and universities for text adoption. Although I assure you, this book is written for the deciding public with narratives and anecdotes that will keep you smiling and fighting, for children that is.

Hard copies will be available at the book signing in October.  Paper backs can be specially ordered through my website and will be officially released in book stores this coming March. A description is below. Thank you all for your wisdom and frienship, no one succeeds alone. Details to follow, or you can check my website at angelaengel.com.

Seeds of Tomorrow: Solutions for Educating America's Children

This inspiring author moves beyond criticism of public education, uniting readers toward a vision of educating children that is holistic, intelligent, and empowering. Written for parents, teachers, administrators, students, and policymakers committed to children and change, this book offers better alternatives to high-stakes testing. Vivid classroom stories show how education is enriched through individual personal attention-not uniformity. Engel introduces novel school collaborative accountability models ensuring academic integrity and excellence on behalf of students, teachers, and our communities.

Uniquely engaging and surprisingly entertaining, Engel's combination of story telling and research findings offers a comprehensive guide to cultivating future generations of problem-solvers and leaders. Forward by Deborah Meier.

My sincerest gratitude,
Angela Engel
