Hello HD37 Democrats:
I wanted to send a quick email update on the Delegate/Alternate situation for the Arapahoe County Convention/Assembly set for Saturday, March 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m at Hinkley High School. (go to www.arapahoedems.org for more information)
We have done the best we can with verifying, entering, and deciphering delegate information from the caucus. It was a crazy night and we have attempted to be as fair and consistent as possible on all levels.
The official written "call" for county convention delegates and alternates has been mailed. If you were elected as a delegate or an alternate you will receive a written call in the next few days. If you DO NOT receive a written call, you are not verified as a delegate and should not attend the convention/assembly. Please let me know if you have questions on this.
As an alternate, you will not be seated at the convention/assembly unless the delegate does not show up that day. You are certainly welcome to come to the high school in the morning and see if the delegate registers, but it is possible you will not be seated. I just want you to know this prior to arrival and spending a few hours there possibly.
I have received a few calls about attending the National Democratic Convention in August here in Denver. It's an exciting time and I understand your desire to be a part of this. You should know that there are limited seats for Colorado delegates (just like all other states) and competition is quite fierce for these elected positions. You should be prepared to attend ALL the county, congressional, and state conventions and CAMPAIGN for votes. It's not easy! Be sure to go to www.coloradodems.org and complete the forms showing your intent to run for national delegate by April 17, 2008.
Please know there are plenty of volunteer opportunities and ways YOU can make a difference. Just plug yourself in and jump in.
That's it for now - THANK YOU to all of you for being DEMOCRATS here in House District 37 - It's going to be an EXCITING YEAR and you'll be a part of it!
